The new Santa Cruz is the first of its type four-door pickup truck from Hyundai for sale in North America. It's based on the same platform as its Tucson sibling and includes a front end nearly as similar. So notable, they feature daylight running lights behind the grille.

An available 2.5-liter direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder engine is here for real power users. Producing 281 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, this turbo is matched to a high-performance 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) for swift automatic gear changes. The Hyundai Santa Cruz includes a front-wheel drive powertrain for both vehicles, but Advanced HTRAC all-wheel drive (AWD) is an available option. With a naturally aspirated engine, the Santa Cruz can tow up to 3,500 pounds. Ordering the more powerful turbo engine can increase the capacity to 5,000 pounds.
The HTRAC all-wheel drive brings a multi-mode drive selector and electronic variable-torque-split dual-clutch with active torque control. Driving in Sport mode can vary the torque heading to the rear wheels. The system varies its response to improve handling and acceleration when in a straight line and through medium and high-speed cornering and hill starts.
