The Ioniq 5 is available with either a rear-wheel drive system that uses a 58-kWh battery and a single 168-horsepower electric motor driving the rear wheels. Buyers can also take advantage of Hyundai's H-Trac all-wheel drive model with an electric motor at the front axle and another at the rear to make 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. It delivers a zero-to-50 mph sprint in 4.9 seconds, thanks to its 77.4 kWh battery.
Also new on the Ioniq 5 is Hyundai's 800-volt system enabling charging from 10-percent to 80-percent in 18 minutes. A 400-volt charger will deliver an 80-percent charge in just 25 minutes. The standard charger will allow owners to charge fully in under seven hours.

The new Ioniq 5 carries much of the styling of its concept car that was first seen at the 2019 Frankfurt Auto Show. Its striking looks continue here with a square matrix theme at various points on the body. They appear on the running lights, the charging port door, the rear hatch and even inside the vehicle.
The Ioniq 5 is so well-designed that it's actually four inches longer than the brand's flagship 3-row Hyundai Palisade SUV. Across the dashboard are a pair of flat-panel 12.3-inch display screens. They display traditional gauges for the driver and those showing the vehicle's current state of charge. Above it all, an all-glass moonroof adds to the airiness inside the cabin.
